The Choir “Sõla” at the Rīga Cathedral
After a fun and loud start to the year, “Sõla”, the mixed choir of the Latvian Academy of Culture, invites listeners to the quieter, more reflective concert Pater Noster on March 16 at 7 PM at the Rīga Cathedral.
Choir Sõla performs for US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
The mixed choir Sõla, of the Latvian Academy of Culture, performed for United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, American ambassador Judith Garber, and other guests at the United States Embassy in Rīga, Latvia on Thursday, June 28. The choir performed the song “Līgo!”, a folk song arrangement by Ārijs Škepasts.
The Singers of Sōla and Latvian Voices to be Ambassadors of Riga – European Capital of Culture at the World Choir Games in the USA
From July 4 – 14, Latvia will represented at the World Choir Games in Cincinnati, USA by Sōla, the mixed choir of the Latvian Academy of Culture, and the Latvian Voices a capella vocal group, as well as representatives of the Foundation Rīga|2014 team.
“Sōla” from Latvia wins three Gold Medals
“Sōla” of the Latvian Academy of Culture won three Gold Medals in the World Choir Games in Cincinnati (USA) – in the Mixed Choirs, Folklore and Musica Sacra categories. Their best result was in Musica Sacra where they achieved 93.88 points. A wonderful success for the choir competing in The Champions Competition!
“Sola” calls out to donate 15 lats!
At the end of June choir “Sōla” will set forward to America to take part at the greatest gathering of choirs from all around the globe. “Sōla” will participate in three categories of the World Choir Games, sing at a special representation concert “Musica Sacra” arranged by the competition organizers, as well as give a special performance at the presentation of Riga – host of the next World Choir Games 2014. The costs for the participation at the World Choir Games are considerable, thus the choir asks for corporate donations.
New season
The choir’s 13th season will officially start on September 11 with “Sōla” joining the brass band of the University of Latvia and mixed choir “De Coro” to give a concert at St. John’s Church.
Sōla - Grand Prix winner at choir competition in Tallinn
Mixed choir Sōla of the Latvian Academy of Culture brought the Grand Prix of the 12th International Choir Competition Tallinn 2011 home. Sōla is the first Latvian choir to win the main prize of the competition ever since it has been organized (39 years)! The competition was fierce and included 35 choirs from Europe and the USA. Alongside with the Grand Prix, the choir become the first place winners of the mixed choir category and the third place winners of the Baroque and Renaissance music category.

“Sōla” Concert Season Resumes
As of September 25 and concert "Halloing" with the Swedish guest choir Sånggruppen Lust, "Sōla" of the Latvian Academy of Culture resumes its 12th concert season.
"Musique en Morvan" in France
After a successful participation in Maasmechelen choir competition (Belgium, September 2009), choir "Sōla" was invited to take part in the well-known choir festival "Musique en Morvan" in France (July, 2010).

As every year, Sōla will sing in the Latvian Academy of Culture yard and congratulate all the graduates of 2010!
Latgale Song festival on June 5 at the Stropi open-air stage in Daugavpils
NKMVA (State Agency of Intangible Cultural Heritage) and Daugavpils City Council invites everybody to Stropu open-air stage to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first Latgale Song festival in Daugavpils (June 15 and 16, 1940), which was the last song festival of an independent Latvia.

Riga Choir Month offers a concert-choir audition on May 14, at the Great Hall of the University of Latvia with the participation of choirs "Juventus", "Kamēr..." and "Sōla".
Concert in Limbaži
May 4, 11:00 - choir "Sōla" will give a concert at the Limbaži Lutheran Church in honor of the Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia.
