The choir performed the song “Līgo!”, a folk song arrangement by Ārijs Škepasts. |

“Sōla” from Latvia wins three Gold Medals “Sōla” of the Latvian Academy of Culture won three Gold Medals in the World Choir Games in Cincinnati (USA) – in the Mixed Choirs, Folklore and Musica Sacra categories.
Their best result was in Musica Sacra where they achieved 93.88 points. A wonderful success for the choir competing in The Champions Competition! |

“Sola” calls out to donate 15 lats! At the end of June choir “Sōla” will set forward to America to take part at the greatest gathering of choirs from all around the globe. “Sōla” will participate in three categories of the World Choir Games, sing at a special representation concert “Musica Sacra” arranged by the competition organizers, as well as give a special performance at the presentation of Riga – host of the next World Choir Games 2014.
The costs for the participation at the World Choir Games are considerable, thus the choir asks for corporate donations. |

New season The choir’s 13th season will officially start on September 11 with “Sōla” joining the brass band of the University of Latvia and mixed choir “De Coro” to give a concert at St. John’s Church. |

Sōla - Grand Prix winner at choir competition in Tallinn Mixed choir Sōla of the Latvian Academy of Culture brought the Grand Prix of the 12th International Choir Competition Tallinn 2011 home. Sōla is the first Latvian choir to win the main prize of the competition ever since it has been organized (39 years)! The competition was fierce and included 35 choirs from Europe and the USA. Alongside with the Grand Prix, the choir become the first place winners of the mixed choir category and the third place winners of the Baroque and Renaissance music category. |
